Swine Flu Spam

The recent Swine Flu outbreaks around the world have received a large amount of media attention so it isn't surprising that the Rustock botnet has begun sending spam with references to Swine Flu in the subject.

Some of the subject lines are:

• First US swine flu victims!
• Madonna caught swine flu!
• NY victims of swine flu
• Salma Hayek caught swine flu!
• Swine flu in Hollywood!
• Swine flu in USA
• Swine flu worldwide!

The body of the message is a short sentence followed by a link.

The websites linked to in these emails all redirect to a Canadian Pharmacy website.

We don't believe that Swine Flu in the subject and links to pharmacy websites is significant of any particular campaign targeting people looking to buy Swine Flu medications. Rustock is known to frequently use current events and celebrities in spam subjects and these often contain links to pharmacy websites.
