'Storm' morphs to hot pics
August 20, 2007
The email "Storm" has morphed yet again, however this time it has abandoned its greeting card theme. Instead the subject lines entice the user with claims of 'hot' pictures. Here are some samples subjects:
I am glad you liked my pics, here.s a few you will really like.
Yo Dude, I took these pics of my sister-in-law. OMG she is so hot. See for yourself!
I bet your wife wont do this for you. come and see, ;-)
Hey man, check out these pics I took of my Ex-Wife. Man she was hot.
hey baby, I thought you might like these pictures to keep you hot till you get home.
Well you showed me yours, I guess I better show you mine, hehe. check out my pics.
Hey man, check out these pics I took of my Ex-Wife. Man she was hot.
I need a real man who knows how to please me. Check out my photos. Is it you?
The body of the message is plain text and very simple, with just 'click' followed by an http link with an ip address.

In keeping with past 'Storm' attacks, the link leads to a website with malicous code which may exploit vulnerabilities in your browser, or prompt you to download malicious files. In this case the file is called 'msdataaccess.exe'.
As before, be wary of clicking on links in any unsolicited email, and in light of these recent storm messages, be doubly suspicious of any links with an IP address.
MailMarshal users should note the current SpamCensor is detecting these messages as spam and no further action is necessary.
