ArcMail Defender

Defender Appliances

ArcMail's Defender email archiving appliances are designed to capture email from email servers, like Microsoft Exchange Server or Novell Groupwise. All messages are captured, including incoming, outgoing, and internal messages.

Once captured, the Defender indexes and stores every message, including their attachments, so they can be quickly located using the Defender's advanced search capabilities.

Defender appliances offer many benefits to educational institutions:

  • Defender is simple to install. As an appliance, there is no special software required, no software licensing fees, and no interruption to normal email traffic. Just place the appliance into your rack, go through some initial configuration steps, and enable journaling on your mail server.
  • Defender can quickly produce all relevant emails for an e-discovery request, freeing up your IT staff to work on other projects, eliminating the need to bring in outside IT forensic consultants, and protecting your district from costly fines or penalties.
  • Defender's generous storage space (up to 12 terabytes) can be used to host older emails and attachments, keeping mail volumes on your mail servers low, while ensuring that your faculty, teachers and students can still access their important messages when they need to.
  • Defender provides excellent data integrity by encrypting emails stored on its local disk, ensuring that data has not been altered. Older email and indexes can regularly be archived to DVD-R and warehoused.
  • Defender provides a complete picture of your email traffic. Unlike, traditional backup products, Defender archives email continuously as it is being sent and received. This means that even if a user deletes a message from his Inbox, Defender keeps that email safe and discoverable.
