Sophos for Marshal works with the following Marshal product releases:
Marshal products continue to support the previously released Sophos SAVI interface. You can use both Sophos scanners side-by-side, but doing so can affect performance.
Sophos for Marshal is licensed and purchased through Marshal.
To install Sophos for Marshal, run the installer package. Immediately after installation, the Sophos for Marshal updater attempts to retrieve the latest virus scanning Engine and IDE (signature) files.
If you need to configure proxy settings, you should do so immediately and then start an update manually.
To configure settings and start an update, start "Sophos for Marshal Configuration" from the Start menu. (Installation creates shortcuts in the submenu for each installed Marshal product that supports Sophos for Marshal). For details of the fields in the configuration tool, see Help.
Notes:
- The package is delivered with an Engine and IDEs, but these are likely to be out of date when you install the software. The scanning engine may not run until these components are successfully updated.
- The updater requires access to the following website: http://sophos.marshal.com
To use Sophos for Marshal with a supported Marshal product:
Notes:
- If you are using a standalone Array Manager with MailMarshal versions below 6.4, or WebMarshal 6.0.2, also install the software on the Array Manager server. This step updates the list of available scanners.
- You may need to restart the WebMarshal 6.0.2 Array Manager service to see the updated list in the WebMarshal Console.
- If you have installed WebMarshal 6.0 side-by-side on the same server as WebMarshal 3.7.5:
- The scanner utility file MSSophos.dll is installed only for WebMarshal 6.0.
- The Start menu shortcut to the Sophos for Marshal configuration utility is created in the WebMarshal program group (not WebMarshal 6)
- In this case, if you want to use Sophos for Marshal with WebMarshal 3.7.5, you can copy the required files to the WebMarshal 3.7.5 folder.
To upgrade from an earlier version, run the installer package.
If a processing engine service (such as the MailMarshal SMTP Engine) is under load, the installer may not be able to stop the service. The installer will notify you.
To complete the upgrade when the installer cannot stop a service:
To uninstall Sophos for Marshal:
VS-365 | Updated Sophos engines were not installed when MailMarshal was under heavy load. Fixed. |
VS-372 | The upgrade installation has been modified to minimize the number of manual service restarts required. |
VS-373 | Sophos for Marshal installation now creates a menu shortcut in the MailMarshal Exchange program group (if MailMarshal Exchange is present). |
VS-263 | Sophos for Marshal now supports MailMarshal Exchange 5.2 |
