TRACEnet
TRACEnet is a Web threat security network for WebMarshal which is maintained and updated by Security Labs. TRACEnet provides protection for an organization's Internet users against blended threats, malicious websites, spam and phishing websites and anonymous proxy servers.

M86 Security Labs incorporate Web threat intelligence from a range or sources to provide timely and relevant security updates to WebMarshal customers. Approximately 80%-90% of spam and phishing emails contain a URL link. Security Labs harvest these URLs from the millions of spam emails captured daily in our spam traps. This information is combined with additional URL data feeds from reputable third-party sources as well as live threat feedback reported in real-time from a global network comprised of thousands of WebMarshal servers.
Security Labs process these URLs; applying malware behavioural analysis and developing heuristic filters and pattern definitions (such as Regular Expressions) to detect the tell-tale characteristics that reveal malicious websites or other potentially harmful Web content. Security Labs publish regular updates to WebMarshal customers, multiple times per day, with updated Web threat URL blacklists and new real-time detection filters for the TRACEnet Scan Engine. In turn, if a WebMarshal customer encounters a new Web threat which has not been recorded before, WebMarshal blocks the potential threat and that URL is immediately reported to Security Labs. This enables the cycle of continuous feedback and updates. The new URL is analyzed and verified by Security Labs and all customers are then advised of the threat in the next TRACEnet update.
