This article applies to:

• MailMarshal 2006 
• MailMarshal 6.x

Symptoms:

• Application Log and MailMarshal text log errors
• Execute error: 0x80004005 - Cannot create new connection because in manual or distributed transaction mode.

Causes:

• This error is a result of deadlock on Receiver rule logging requests to the SQL database.

Resolution:

To resolve the issue, upgrade to the latest version of MailMarshal SMTP. This problem was first fixed in version 6.2.0.

If you cannot upgrade immediately, you can reduce the number of errors logged by disabling logging of blocked hosts (Configurator > Server and Array Properties > Attack Prevention tab).

This error should not affect email processing.
