M86 Security to speak on secure social media use at RSA Europe
September 27, 2011
Presentation discusses how to adjust and enforce new policies to enable social media use, while remaining compliant
London, UK - September 27, 2011 - M86 Security, the global expert in real-time Web and email threat protection, is speaking, on 11th October at RSA Europe 2011, on the issue of managing social media without undermining security compliance. Bradley Anstis, VP Technical Strategy, will discuss the issue of businesses using social media as an effective business tool, without increasing the risk of data disclosure, loss of reputation, or targeted attacks based on information gleaned from social media sites. Many industries have their own regulatory frameworks which pose a challenge for organisations that are trying to balance these mandates against their own acceptable use policies covering communications over email, Web and social media. Anstis’ presentation will outline the issues and use case study examples to show how organisations can safely enable social media use, while still remaining compliant.
Date: Tuesday 11th October
Time: 14.10 - 15.00
Title: The Business Impact of Deploying Social Media and Remaining Compliant
Venue: Hilton Metropole, London
Track: Governance Risk and Compliance Track: GRC-106
M86 Secure Web Gateway (SWG) features granular social networking controls for both inbound and outbound traffic. Organisations can use the technology to set and enforce policies on uploads and downloads based on file size, protocols and specific URLs. The software can also be used to extend read-only privileges to employees using social media sites during specified work periods.
To protect against malware hosted on social media sites, M86 Security technologies provide advanced threat protection through real-time behavioural analysis of Web code and email traffic. They identify and block new malware that has been specifically designed to penetrate the email and Web gateways of organisations’ networks by avoiding detection by signature databases. The M86 SWG has been awarded the CESG Claims Tested Mark, (CCTM), a certification by the UK Government’s National Technical Authority for Information Assurance. The CCTM tests established that M86 SWG is able to offer immediate protection against zero day threats without the need for signature-based protection, eliminating the vulnerability window introduced by waiting for patches and updates from anti-virus vendors. The CCTM independently tested and verified the capability of M86's Real-time Code Analysis engine to detect and block threats in real time.
