2. What is the new company name?
The new company is called M86 Security.
3. Why did Marshal8e6 change the name at this time?
The merger of Marshal and 8e6 represented the opportunity to combine strengths and address the increasing problem of Web and messaging security threats as a single company. Renaming and rebranding the company represents a significant milestone as the company has furthered the integration of the two companies and defines the company's core strength as a global security solution provider; focused on protecting organizations from existing and emerging threats.
4. Why M86 Security?
The combined and succinct name best embodies the company's ability to deliver a single suite of solutions for our customer's needs. Furthermore, the combination of the two names maintains the legacy of the two core organizations and provides a sense of continuity and stability to channel partners, customers and the market.
The new logo identifies the company with an image that well represents the strength of a profitable and growing company with 20,000 customers and 4 million users in over 96 countries. We believe the new name and progressive company logo represents how we want the market to see us: stable, innovative and forward looking.
5. Have there been any changes to the Executive Management organization?
Since the merger and the acquisition of Avinti we have appointed new executives, namely:
- John Vigouroux, CEO
- William Kilmer, CMO
- Werner Thalmeier, VP Product Management
6. What is the new company direction and strategy?
With the combination of these companies into a single company, we envision M86 Security is now:
- a global provider of Web and messaging security products
- one of the largest independent internet security companies delivering expertise, product breadth and technology to protect organizations from both current and emerging threats.
- a company that offers appliance, software and cloud-based solutions leveraging real-time threat data to proactively secure customers' networks from malware and spam; protect their sensitive information; and maintain employee productivity.
With this direction, M86 Security will:
- Continue to embody the leading independent security vendor with our expert capabilities across Web and messaging
- Enhance our existing Web security expertise to deliver the most effective Secure Web Gateway in the market
- Build and expand on our non-signature based malware capability
- Deliver to market unified Web and messaging security solutions
Customers and channel partners will soon see evidence of our progress including new solutions as well as integrated product releases such as the behavioural threat detection based on the recent acquisition of Avinti. These new product releases, along with our new name as M86 Security, will support our position as a market leader and our vision of providing today's technology for tomorrow's threat.
7. How will M86 differentiate itself from competitors?

The merger has already given channel partners the great opportunity for cross-sell, up-sell and drive new business. With the release of new solutions such as the Blended Threat solution channel partners will be able to get ahead of competition and offer customers an advanced technology to help achieve even higher protection from email threat attacks. Our roadmap is geared up to accelerate the integration of the new technologies into all core solutions which will provide channel partners further opportunity to grow their business with M86 Security in the future.
9. What changes will channel partners and customers see?
Channel partners will already have seen a revamp of the regional channel programs. There will be no changes to the channel support interfaces or contact points. From a brand perspective, there will be a new website and channel portal, collateral and communications. In terms of product and solutions, customers and the channel responded extremely well to our Avinti acquisition and are excited about our Blended Threat solution and our product roadmap.
